Program 05
Youth Peer Education & Outreach
Youth-led peer education advancing health literacy, equity, and stigma reduction through community ambassadors, storytelling, and culturally responsive engagement.
Why this work
Young people learn best from voices they trust.
Peer-led education is one of the most effective public-health strategies for reaching young people — because it centers their voices, their lived experience, and their relationships. Our youth peer educators carry community health information into the spaces where it makes the most difference.
We invest in young leaders. Our peer ambassadors are trained, supported, and trusted to share accurate, dignified health information with their peers, families, and communities.
What we provide
Youth ambassador programs and outreach
Peer Ambassador Training
Structured training in public health basics, communication skills, stigma reduction, and culturally responsive engagement — building leadership and confidence.
Community Outreach Events
Youth-led presence at community events, partner programs, schools, and faith communities — bringing accessible health education to where young people gather.
Storytelling & Media
Supporting peer ambassadors to create their own content — videos, social media, written stories — that resonate with their communities and amplify health equity.
Mentorship & Wellness
Ongoing mentorship and wellness support for peer ambassadors, recognizing that their leadership work deserves investment in their own well-being.
Who this is for
Young people, partner schools, and community organizations
This program engages young people from communities historically underserved by mainstream public health communications — including youth of color, LGBTQ+ youth, and young people from low-income families. We partner with schools, faith communities, and youth-serving organizations across the Tampa Bay region.
